Standards for All Users

We want MuslimConnect to bring together a diverse community to form positive, authentic connections and strengthen ties. We created these guidelines to outline the core ethics and standards that we are committed to and are expected from our users on our platform, social media and in real life and it applies to groups, events and content in general. By using MuslimConnect, you agree to these guidelines and our Terms of Service.

Respect everyone.

Respect is the building block to creating safe and trusting communities. We are all individuals with different opinions, personalities, upbringing and life experiences.

– Be respectful and dignified in interactions with people online and in person. Learn to be humble, open, and understanding when someone doesn’t share the same mindset or world-view as you. Challenge ideas and educate one another, but don’t impose your perspective on others or attack them by resorting to insults, name-calling or profanity.

– Be respectful with the content you post on the platform. Don’t transgress the limits we have set in these guidelines.

– Be respectful of others’ personal choices in interests, groups and events.

– Be respectful of personal boundaries online and in person.

– Be respectful of others’ religion or level of faith. Don’t judge someone by comparing your level of religion to theirs. Ultimately, it is a matter between each individual and God.

– Be respectful towards the opposite sex and don’t treat them as less than equals.

– Be respectful towards the group organisers. It is their group and they are paying for it, and understand that organising a group is a significant undertaking.

– Be respectful of the locations of events, whether that be somebody’s home or a public space.

– Be respectful of yourself. You are your own person and at the end of the day, you are responsible for the groups and events you join and the choices you make.

Any conflicts or disagreements should try to be mediated respectfully. Don’t escalate it to the point of being blocked or banned. But if you have been blocked or banned, respect the organisers’ decision and move on, and don’t create new accounts to work around the ban.

Be just and decent human beings.

Treat others the way you want yourself or your loved ones to be treated. Be honest about who you are, your intentions and affiliations.

– Be real and don’t impersonate others or create fake accounts.

– Don’t engage in or encourage hate speech, supremacy, violence, discrimination, bullying, sexual harassment, intimidation or similar types of behaviour toward any individuals or groups whatsoever; or based on their gender, age, religious belief, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability or disease.

– Don’t post anything related to minors that are harmful, exploitative, violent or sexually suggestive.

– Don’t promote or glorify self-harm including encouraging others to cut or injure themselves, commit suicide, embrace eating disorders.

– Don’t post anything that depicts sex acts, nudity, and pornography; violent, gore, shocking or graphic content.

– Don’t spam people in posts, comments, replies, messages. This includes any content that is that is irrelevant, impersonal, unsolicited, promotional, or repetitive.

– Don’t violate anyone’s privacy by asking for and sharing personal, sensitive, confidential or identifying information without their consent and permission.

– Don’t put yourself or other members in danger.

– Don’t interfere, abuse or disrupt the integrity and security of MuslimConnect services, operations, servers, networks.

Like everything else in life, be balanced with your use of MuslimConnect. Of course we encourage everyone to use the platform, but it should not be excessive and reach the point where you neglect your daily responsibilities such as your spouse, family, work, prayers etc. Instead, use the platform to supplement your life and strengthen your ties of kinship i.e. perhaps find events that your spouse or children could be interested in.

Each one of you is essential in helping us foster a safe, inclusive and respectful community. Whilst we can track and control user’s online activities, any activities that take place offline, outside our platform in the real world, are out of our control so we encourage you to be vigilant and take ownership of your own safety. MuslimConnect is generally not responsible for and has no liability for what users do offline.

If you come across any members or content that violates our Terms of Service or Community Guidelines, you should notify the organisers and to MuslimConnect directly via the built-in reporting option or email support@muslimconnect.io. Please provide as much information as possible, such as links, usernames, and content description, so we can quickly review and take appropriate action. In the case of harmful, threatening, dangerous, or illegal activity, please notify the local law enforcement authorities first and we will work with them as appropriate and at our discretion.

Please keep in mind that you may see something you don’t like, offensive or controversial that doesn’t violate the Terms of Service or Community Guidelines. If that happens, you can block the person who posted it. If there’s something you don’t like in a comment on one of your posts, you can delete that comment.

You may receive a notice to explain or correct your behaviour, if it was concluded that you are violating these guidelines. MuslimConnect reserves the right to suspend accounts, or remove content, without notice, for any reason, but particularly to protect our services, infrastructure, users, and community. We reserve the right to enforce these guidelines in our sole discretion, and these guidelines don’t create a duty or contractual obligation for us to act in any particular manner.
